*SUMMARY*
Under general supervision of the Chief Engineer , this position performs a wide variety of administrative and clerical duties in support of the District’s main office and engineering department.
The position requires thorough attention to detail, good interpersonal and organizational skills, and an ability to balance and complete a myriad of numerous assigned tasks with varying degrees of complexity.

* Assists engineering staff with grant administration activities.
* Prepare/review cover memorandums and contract documents.
* Maintain calendar of office meetings, schedule meeting rooms, and set up for meetings as required, including setup of presentation equipment.
* Assist in organizing travel arrangements on behalf of staff and prepare itinerary materials.
* Maintain, retrieve, and update District files, including materials in the library, vault files, offsite file storage and electronic document filing system.
* Maintain engineering records.
* Operates office equipment including computers, printers, plotters, scanners, cameras, and copiers.
* Perform related duties as assigned.
*EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS*
*Knowledge of**: *
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Windows operating system, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and ARCGIS is highly desirable.
*Ability to:*
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the District.
* Schedule meetings and coordinate efforts among engineers and scientists and field staff.
* Occasionally, accompany engineers and scientists and assist with field or project site visits.
* Maintain engineering record systems.
* Prepare routine reports and business correspondence including meeting minutes.
* Manage and complete multiple and varied assignments and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions.

* Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the public and employees of the District.
* Use good judgment, including knowing when to act and when to consult with District management for direction.
*EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE*
Any combination of experience and education that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
High school diploma and three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in administrative assistant duties and computer operation.
College level course work and/or Associates/Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience in a water agency, utility or similar public service agency is highly desirable.
*CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES*
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California Driver’s License is required.
