Our work environment includes: * Modern office setting *GENERAL SUMMARY:* Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Social-Emotional Services Specialist will provide services to students with social-emotional and/or behavioral needs; provide individual and group counseling, social work services, collaboration, and training; participate in team meetings to support student needs and plans in the school setting; provide training and support to school staff on social-emotional strategies; provide behavior consultation and support to teachers and staff working with students; observe, collect and analyze data for a Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA), Positive Behavior Intervention Plans (PBIP), and Comprehensive Behavior Intervention Plans (CBIP); and provide training and support to school staff on positive behavior support strategies.
*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* _*General:*_ Provide counseling services to students with social-emotional and/or behavioral needs.
Provide social work services to students and families.
Provide parent counseling and training for parents to assist parents in understanding their child’s special needs and child development.
Provide direction to staff in developing systems and collecting data on progress toward goals in the areas of social-emotional and/or behavioral issues.
Conduct FBAs and/or develop PBIPs or CBIPs for specific students as needed.
Provide consultation and direct services to staff and families.
Monitor and evaluate student progress.
Provide guidance and support to those involved in the process of conducting an FBA or developing or implementing a PSBP or CBIP.
Organize schedules to provide optimal and equitable access to participating districts.
Perform clerical duties such as typing reports and Behavior Intervention Plans.
Prepare for, conduct, and participate in in-service training programs on the philosophy and/or principles of Positive Behavior Support.
Provide supervision and evaluation of designated staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
_*Additional Responsibilities:*_ Develop and maintain a continuum of positive behavior intervention services and activities for students with disabilities who are demonstrating behavioral, learning, and social challenges within general and/or special education settings.
Conduct comprehensive functional analysis and develop behavior intervention plans for students who are displaying social-emotional and/or behavioral challenges.
Provide support, training, and consultation to administrators, faculty, staff, families, and the public in support of the assigned population.
Develop, implement, and conduct training, staff development, and related activities for personnel, teachers, and parents concerning behavior and implementation of behavior plans to staff.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with school and agency staff and families.
Maintain routine records.
Maintain current knowledge of program rules, regulations, requirements, and restrictions.
Assure proper and timely resolution of related student, family, and staff issues and concerns.
Prepare and deliver oral presentations.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer and assigned software; drive a vehicle to conduct work.
Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
Meet schedules and timelines.
Plan, organize, and work independently with little direction.
_*Community Relations*_: Serve on appropriate committees and organizations to ensure the instructional mission and interests of the District are properly represented.
Establish and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external personnel and other stakeholders.
Represent the District in working cooperatively with community agencies, and service groups as needed.
Work with the local community in promoting and developing a positive learning environment to further the mission of the District and provide additional opportunities for students.
_*Personnel*_: Promote positive staff morale and commitment.
Demonstrate collegial and organizational loyalties.
_*Professional Obligations*_: Maintain professional association memberships and represent the District on committees, as needed.
Strive to continually improve management and administrative skills and abilities.
_*Authority and Functions*_: Reports directly to the Superintendent and shall be responsible for assigned management and operation functions.
_*Education/Experience:*_ Must possess a Master’s degree and one of the licenses/credentials/degrees listed below.
Must be certified, or able to become certified, by the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) in non-violent crisis interventions (NCPI) as a trainer.
Must be certified, or able to become certified, in Positive Behavior Interventions to complete FBAs and CBIPs.
Experience in a school setting implementing Positive Behavior Supports, preferred.
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), preferred.
