Texaco Old-School Gas Can – 3 Gal. - Dover Stamping Co. - $30 (Mid-Oxnard)

First, since there is no indication stamped on this item, I'm assuming the capacity is three gallons.

here it is! An old style gas can designed so you can control the flow of liquid without having to deal with a cap.
The cap is spring-loaded so as to open and close automatically leaving both hands free while also sealing fumes from escaping.
The throat is also made with a fixed, fine mesh filter that can't be removed.
The issue here is the spring is broken.
The cap can open and close manually but it doesn't open far.
Unless someone has the time and experience to fix it, this very cool item would make a great decoration inside or out! Will consider all reasonable offers.
Dimensions are: 18”H x 11 3/16” dia.
