I coined the term ‘Financial Nurse’ because, after many years of doing bookkeeping, I began to see that the work I was getting consisted of mostly 'rescue missions' and since I like a variety and in my world, the work never quits (yes, I do work Sunday's), I switched gears and have been working freelance so that I could reach out to and heal as many businesses, who were in trouble, as I could.
In my search, I found there were a lot of small and medium sized business owners who were either upside down or, on their side and seriously considering closing their doors.
I came in, did some collections, cleaned up their books and gave them real numbers so they could see their true bottom line.
Some were able to work with this and keep pushing on and others, were able to find investors or small business loans so they could continue operating.
I have worked with businesses who'd had the same bookkeeper for many years, who was trusted with the keys to the castle, only to find that they had been embezzling.
Some for many, many years.
I came in and found the amount that was stolen.
I've worked with businesses who have had so many different bookkeepers over the years that their books were a mess (as every bookkeeper has his/her own way of doing the same tasks) and they wanted them straightened out so they could just pull a report and understand what they were looking at.
I have also had clients who were being audited by the IRS and/or, EDD.
I came in and helped them get ready and stayed through the process because I know the language of finance and can explain the what's and the why's behind questionable transactions.
I have been though many different Audits.
I know how to talk to or, "deal", with any Government Agency.
I'm talking IRS, Franchise Tax Board, EDD (for Everything Payroll) and the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration, formerly known as the State Board of Equalization (for Sales Tax).
I've also had clients who were in real trouble to the point of being assessed and getting their bank accounts seized or, frozen.
I came in and negotiated terms, cleared up the mess and gave them back their piece of mind.
For a few, I've been able to reason with the Government to give them back the money they had seized.
Over the years, I've been able to establish working relationships with several case workers within the EDD, IRS and SBOE and I can definitely help you get back on the path to compliance.
