As the Manager of Maintenance, you will collaborate closely with the Water Recycling Plant Operations team to strategize, schedule, and execute maintenance tasks, including predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance on a diverse range of equipment such as pumps, motors, compressors, centrifuges, boilers, crucial to the daily operations of a water recycling plant.

There is (1) vacancy in the Operations and Maintenance Department This recruitment is being conducted to fill (1) vacancy and will establish an eligibility list which may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur during the active status of the eligibility list.
Salary Range: UN 192FLSA: ExemptProbationary Period: At-WillUnder general direction, plans, organizes, integrates and directs the work of the Maintenance Department; manages reliability centered maintenance program for the Agency’s treatment plants, equipment, pumping facilities, distribution and transmission systems and other facilities ; provides expert professional assistance and guidance to management on maintaining the Agency’s assets in a safe, reliable and cost-effective manner that meets all regulatory requirements; and performs related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The Manager of Maintenance is responsible for directing, controlling and integrating a comprehensive maintenance program and the associated personnel of the Agency’s Maintenance Department.
This single-incumbent class ensures through subordinate Deputy Managers that the Agency’s operated facilities are available for operations.
Work is broad in scope and requires seasoned judgment and a high degree of initiative and independence.
An employee in this class reports to the Director of Operations and Maintenance and directs the work of Deputy Managers of Maintenance.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.

Plans, organizes, controls, integrates and evaluates the work of the assigned Maintenance Depart­ment; with Deputy Managers, supervisors and staff, develops, implements and monitors work plans to achieve goals and objectives; contributes to the development of and monitors performance against the annual department budget; supervises and participates in developing, implementing and evaluating plans, work processes, systems and procedures to achieve annual goals, objectives and work standards.
Manages the performance of department staff; interviews and selects new staff; establishes performance requirements and personal development targets; regularly monitors performance and provides coaching for performance improvement and develop­ment; recommends compensation and provides other rewards to recognize performance; hears and makes recommendations on grievances; subject to management concurrence, approves or takes disciplinary action, up to and including termination, to address performance deficiencies, in accordance with Agency human resources policies and labor contract agreements.
Provides day-to-day leadership and works with staff to ensure a high-performance, customer service-oriented work environment that supports achieving the department’s and the Agency’s mission, objectives and values regarding teamwork, mutual trust and respect; applies process improvement and quality management principles to assigned areas of responsibility.
Participates in the formulation and implementation of departmental and division policy, plans and strategy; leads and directs staff and consultants in the develop­ment and applica­tion of new methods and processes to achieve higher efficiency, quality and innovation in department work processes.
Through subordinate managers, directs the preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs, maintenance and regulatory compliance, maintenance planning; approves maintenance program and asset replacement recom­men­dations.
Directs response to and recovery of service during emergencies, as well as planned and unplanned operation stoppages; oversees and approves overtime work.
Provides leadership and guidance for Maintenance Department in asset management initiatives.
Promotes and incorporates asset management concepts and principals into Maintenance Department culture.
Integrates new work practices, technologies and systems to enhance productivity; periodically reviews and evaluates required inspection and maintenance programs to ensure compliance with regulatory operation permits and regulations.
Directs the delivery and tracking of mandated certification programs, specialized skills training and mandated safety policy and procedures training.
Directs the inspection and approval of the work of contractors and crews for completeness, accuracy and regulatory compliance; inspects jobs and facilities to ensure policies and procedures are adhered to and that conditions are safe.
Plans, organizes and conducts management and program analyses relating to maintenance and technology programs; identifies problems, determines analytical techniques and statistical and information-gathering processes, and obtains necessary information and data for analysis; analyzes alternatives and makes recommendations; prepares reports of study conclusions; discusses findings with senior management and subordinates; develops implementation plans and directs implementation; writes reports, recommended policy change documents and presentation materials for management.
Attends and participates in industry conferences and meetings; stays current on maintenance practices, tools, technology and regulatory environments; reviews changes in regulations to evaluate the impact of proposed changes on current maintenance operations and the department’s bottom line.
