Responsibilities
The Perinatal Safety Specialist (PSS) provides clinical leadership and expertise in perinatal/neonatal nursing.
The PSS promotes safe care for patients and their families and to promote evidence-based practice by staff and physicians through monitoring care, evaluating practice, and providing feedback and education.
As a member of the Maternal Child Health Leadership team, the PSS acts as researcher, evaluator, educator, mentor, preceptor, and resource for the perinatal/neonatal nursing staff and the multidisciplinary perinatal/neonatal team.
The PSS provides advanced clinical consultation, advocates for patient/family safety, and applies/initiates evidence-based practice.
The PSS is a resource regarding the standard of care, current practice standards, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies/procedures pertaining to perinatal/neonatal patient care.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Five (5) years current Perinatal/Neonatal experience including L&D experience required.
Active California RN license
California Driver License
CPR, ACLS, & NRP
Certification in Nursing Speciality
Certification in Advanced Electronic Fetal Monitoring(AWHONN) or NCC Sub-specialty certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring.
Experience in electronic medical record documentation and review.
Preferred Requirments:
NRP Instructor preferred.
NCC RNC Inpatient Obstetrics Certification or equivalent certification preferred
Pay Range
$46.
