A bit about us:
We are an intergenerational family with a fun, active and social 5-year-old and an elderly parent.
We both work from home as permaculture educators and designers, and are trained as biologists so spend a lot of our time tending or tweaking things in the back yard, geeking out on plants, managing livestock, cooking or preparing food, watching birds, and other “homestead-y” type activities.
You don’t have to be like us, but it sure makes things more enjoyable if we all get along well and have some level of mutual curiosity about the world around us.
Rent and deposit are each $1200.
Deposit can be paid over the first two months if necessary.
Provide good references, proof of sufficient income, and a clean background check.
Couples ($1550) will also be considered.
You’re likely a good fit if:
- You have an active interest in recycling, sustainable energy / food production, animal husbandry, resource cycling, regenerative ag, or simply gardening.
A basic appreciation is likely to increase your enjoyment of renting here, and there are plenty of opportunities to get more involved if that’s something that you desire.
- You do not have personal pets — cats and dogs are not a good fit here.
Other small pets may be considered.
- You work outside the home during day-time hours, or have quiet work from home while recognizing that we both also work from home and there is always someone in the house.
- You consider yourself a pretty laid-back person, mature, responsible, open to communicating directly and sharing your concerns or any issues that may arise.
- You are family-friendly and comfortable; our ‘best fit’ tenants have enjoyed sharing an occasional meal together and have become good long-term friends, including with our child.
We are not likely to be not a good fit if:
- You want to keep a cat or dog; other small pets may be considered but for simplicity we’d prefer no pets.
- You are a night owl or work a night shift, since we are caregivers and there’s generally a lot of activity in the house during the day that isn’t conducive to sleeping late or through the day.
- General environmental and social awareness isn’t of any interest to you at all.
- You are a smoker, heavy drinker, or heavy user of illicit substances.
