Job Title: Development Assistant
Division: Ventura Ronald McDonald Family Room
Reports To: Family Room Manager
FLSA Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, 15-20 hours per week
Pay Rate: $19/hr
Summary:
Our mission at the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California (RMHCSC) is to provide comfort, care and support to children and families in Southern California.
To achieve our vision of creating a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm and joy, RMHCSC operates seven Ronald McDonald Houses and three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, along with Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times.
The Development Assistant is part of a team that oversees the administration and supports the mission of the Ventura Ronald McDonald Family Room (VRMFR) while upholding the policies, procedures, and standards set by RMHCSC.
Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Development Support: Ensure that all donations to the Ventura Ronald McDonald Family Room are entered into the Raiser’s Edge database and acknowledged accurately and in a timely manner.
Function as lead in the development of Raiser’s Edge database capabilities to support fundraising goals, which includes but is not limited to, entering new donors into the database and updating records ensuring accurate contact information.
Generate reports pertaining to the fund development mission, and ensure donor notes are updated in Raiser’s Edge donor database as requested by Family Room Manager.
Pulling weekly donors reports including special events for Constant Contact and Acknowledgments to be written by volunteers.
Tracking Major Donor and Board special occasions and ensuring acknowledgement is sent (ie: birthdays, holidays, anniversaries Assist with the organization and execution of special events including, but not limited to, the Walk for Kids, Wine Women and Shoes, and third-party fundraising events.
This includes: contacting vendors; soliciting auction items; assisting attendees and partners; working events on the day-of; and tracking sponsorships, tickets, and payments.
Assist with set up and tear down of informational booths and positively engage with guests Communications and Social Media: Take photos of Family Room activities for use in communications and on social media Assist Family Room Manager with the creation of annual social media calendar and management of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Utilize Constant Contact to plan posts in advance, connect with our audience, and grow the RMHC brand.
Work with Family Room Manager and to create e-newsletters and email communications using Constant Contact.
Update and maintain Constant Contact lists.
Attend MarComm Cohort meetings Volunteer Engagement: Act as a first point of contact for volunteer inquiries submitted by phone and by web, answering questions and providing information as needed.
Coordinate and calendar volunteer schedule for the Ventura Ronald McDonald Family Room and ensuring hospital liaison has a copy.
Serve as liaison for volunteer groups when needed, ensuring a positive and meaningful volunteer experience and stewarding long-term relationships.
Be available to greet volunteer groups and provide an introduction and overview.
Administrative Support: Provide general office support for the Ventura Ronald McDonald Family Room; answer the telephone, organize and maintain files, maintain records, office equipment/supplies and professional physical appearance of the office Work with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California finance department to reconcile monthly expenses and revenue, prepare and make deposits (use eDeposit system and go to the bank as necessary) accurately and in a timely manner.
Prepare check requests for invoices for the House and obtain the appropriate authorization signatures.
Assist with in-kind donations including capturing images, filling out donation forms, transferring and sorting donation, and ensuring acknowledgements are written by volunteers Attend Administrative Coordinator cohort meetings Assist Family Room Manager in maintain Ultra Storage unit Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Work Experience: High school diploma with 3 years of administrative support or a bachelor's degree with 1 year of development experience, OR any appropriate combination of education and experience.
Knowledge and Skills: General knowledge and demonstrated experience with office management; knowledge of the organizations and operations of administrative programs; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other staff, employees, and the general public; ability to present facts andrecommendations effectively in oral and written form.
Superior writing ability and analytical skills.
Detail-oriented.
Experience working with volunteers and utilizing social media a plus.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None Language Skills: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a variety of constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, and the general public.
Spanish speaking abilities beneficial.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite required.
Raisers Edge or other donor database software preferred.
Familiarity with social media platforms, Hootsuite, and Constant Contact a plus.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
