THE POSITION Under general supervision, Homeless Shelter Case Aides assist professional staff in providing indirect and direct case and program related services at the RAIN Transitional Living Center in Camarillo, CA.
Homeless Shelter Case Aides provide supportive services related to case plan activities and operational functions related to running a 24/7 residential facility.
They are expected to function independently and effectively in performing all duties assigned.
IDEAL CANDIDATEWe are seeking applicants who possess experience in or are willing to work in a 24/7 residential facility supporting the ever-increasing complex needs of individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness.
They will have experience assisting clients who have experienced significant trauma in their journey toward self-sufficiency and well-being.
They will demonstrate an understanding and respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion; effective interpersonal skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to adapt in an ever-changing work environment.
DISTINGUISHING CLASSIFICATION LEVELS HS Case Aide I - $18.
14 to $24.
19/hourly depending on directly related experienceHS Case Aide I is the entry level classification; incumbents are expected to work at the I level leading progressively towards competency as a HS Case Aide II after one year assuming satisfactory performance.
HS Case Aide II - $19.
93 to $26.
57/ hourly depending on directly related experienceHS Case Aide II is expected to function independently and effectively in performing all duties assigned.
NOTE: If appointed at the lower level as an HS Case Aide I, an employee may be promoted to the higher level of HS Case Aide II without further examination upon meeting the minimum requirements, demonstrating satisfactory performance, and in accordance with the business needs of the department.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Performs regular check-ins with families experiencing homelessness, works alongside a case manager to ensure service plan is implemented, monitor clients and visitors during case manager approved activities, discuss concerns and household needs, and assess environment.
Provides life skills coaching and training for clients experiencing homelessness, such as shopping for or with clients for household needs, healthy food choices, grocery shopping, public transportation, banking, budgeting, and balance check book.
Documents all interactions and service plan activities in case files, schedules transportation and life-skill client activities, completes service logs; sets up and maintains case files, records, and other documentation; maintains written and/or electronic records of contacts, communication, attendance, behaviors, and responses; may provide information regarding case contact at team meetings and other case related reviews; provides liaison communication between residential client, social worker, other providers, and agency staff.
Assists clients with employment and housing searches, completion of applications for housing and public assistance, etc.
; assists clients with completion of forms, conducts initial or follow-up interviews; receives and reviews requests for service; refers, schedules and coordinates access to appropriate services.
May participate in field work assignments, including but not limited to, providing transportation to clients to facilitate provisions of services; accompany and/or otherwise assist in monitoring health and safety issues as assigned.
Answers phone, in-person, and electronic inquiries, and explains agency/program policies to individuals and/or groups; provides information and referral to appropriate agency, community, and governmental resources; receives and reviews requests for service.
Utilizes Microsoft Office and a variety of proprietary and other electronic and computer systems to communicate and perform routine daily tasks; completes and submits notices, forms, program reports; performs other routine clerical duties including reception, copying, filing, and data entry.
Assists with the planning and participation of group presentations, workshops, and program events.
May provide housekeeping and light maintenance as necessary to maintain a healthy and safe environment; assists with the pickup, distribution and storage of donated items; may assist in the preparation of meals for residents; may receive, inventory, maintain logs/records, secure in locked area, and provide access as appropriate to all prescribed and over-the-counter medications; may perform lice checks at new resident entry and/or during their stay; may be directed by on-duty manager to administer breathalyzer, oral test, dip-test or other similar test device and store securely for laboratory pickup.
