The Rescue Mission Alliance (RMA) is a Christian non-profit organization that has been serving the less fortunate in Southern California through emergency and long-term rehabilitation services since 1972.
RMA partners with local churches to meet the spiritual needs of the people we serve.
RMA Administration provides centralized Finance, Information Technology, Donor Development, Mission Support and Operations services to the ministries and departments of RMA.
*Summary* The Senior Accountant works within the Accounting Department with the objective of processing payroll, journal entries, and reconciliations to facilitate management and compliance reporting.
The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller and interacts with the CEO, CFO, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, and Vendors.
This is a regular full-time, exempt position based on the professional nature of job duties.
The position is located in Oxnard, California.
Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience.
This position is benefits eligible.
*Essential Duties & Responsibilities* _Daily_ – · Prepare general ledger entries · Reconciliations as needed _Weekly_ – · Set up new vendors in A/P system.
· Terminations in ADP, as needed · A/P check run, approvals under $500.
00, Positive pay upload _Semi Monthly_ – · Submit payroll JE · Sick, vacation and floating holiday reports to supervisors, as needed if HR unable to assist · 403b worksheet, JE and reconciliation each payroll · Process payroll _Monthly_ – · Accrue liabilities for month-end close, per month end checklist · Reconcile Benefit accounts to ADP reports and GL, communicate with HR when additional employee payments are required due to LOA or other reasons.
· Bank reconciliations.
· Prepare benefit invoices for payment processing in Mineral Tree · BLS - Bureau of Labor Statistics reporting as needed · Manage Fixed Asset spreadsheet and 3rd party tracking software, Asset Panda · Capitalize assets as needed and reconcile Course of Construction to GL and Asana · Reconcile balance sheet accounts per GL monthly close checklist · Prepare monthly worker’s comp code audits and Zenith payroll self-audit.
_Quarterly_ – · Prepare sales tax return.
· Reconcile payroll form 941 to the general ledger.
· Prepare multiple worksite report.
*Essential Duties & Responsibilities (contd)* _Annually_ – · Assist with audit.
· Prepare annual filings (1099, property tax, welfare exemptions, etc.
).
*Other Duties & Responsibilities* · A “Servant Leader” in actual everyday situations in alignment with RMA’s Lead Like Jesus commitment and Mission/Vision/Values.
· Promote RMA Safety Program and in alignment with the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and Smith Systems policies and procedures; model safe work practices.
· Strive for continuous improvement in reporting, administrative skills, and communication.
· Attend and participate in team meetings.
· Perform other related duties and projects assigned by the Controller, CFO and/or CEO.
*Supervisory Responsibilities* The Senior Accountant will assist the Controller in training of new Accounting Department Staff and/or new RMA Management Staff.
*Qualifications* · A solid Bible based Christian faith, compatible with RMA’s Statement of Faith and an active member of an Evangelical church · A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in accounting or a related field · A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in accounting and payroll, preferably working with ADP WorkforceNow · Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general office equipment · Valid Driver’s License and insurable under RMA policy · Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred *Skills* · Organized and able to multi-task despite interruptions · Able to respond to all audiences-management, employees, vendors-with excellent oral and written communication skills · Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and issues · Ability to work well independently and within a team · Good working knowledge of computers and ability to learn new software applications quickly *Software* · Internet Browsers & Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint * Intermediate Excel skills – Pivots, V-lookup, filters, sorts,text to columns, sorting, & basic formulas.

As a part of normal duties this position will also be in facilities with an at-risk population where errant behavior and disease risk may be present.
