93 *Pay rate is based on level of experience equivalent to TCRC Benefits: Health insurance Paid time off Dental insurance Vision insurance Life insurance Retirement plan Referral program Flexible spending account Employee assistance program Employee Tuition reimbursement Job Title: Physician Job Summary: Provides in a person-centered way diagnostic medical evaluation and related services to individuals with developmental disabilities and those at high risk for a developmental disability.
Will participate in ongoing evaluation and planning and related work as required.
Will work as a member of an interdisciplinary team being primarily responsible for diagnostic medical evaluations and limited administrative aspects as directed by the Director of Clinical Services.
Will help coordinate medical care for the person served and serve as a liaison with other physicians in the community.
Important factors are initiative; sound independent judgment; flexibility, and to be punctual and maintain regular attendance.
Primary Functions: 1.
Conduct medical assessment/evaluation of regional center applicants/eligible persons for the purpose of determining regional center eligibility, identification of health issues for follow-up and/or coordination with primary health care provider/family/service provider/TCRC staff.
2.
Review and make recommendations regarding service policies for the provision of clinical and prevention services and consultation to TCRC eligible individuals and families, including medical, nursing, and therapy services.
3.
Attend and participate in clinical meetings as requested by Director of Clinical Services or designee.
4.
Present testimony at fair hearings as requested by Director of Clinical Services or designee.
6.
Review case records for regional center eligibility, health needs/issues, genetic testing/counseling, and special projects as requested by Director of Clinical Services.
7.
Review of the utilization of clinical services provided to persons served in order to assure best practices consistent with TCADD policy/standards as well as TCRC procedures as requested by Director of Clinical Services.
8.
Prepare and conduct training for TCRC staff and service providers on health issues affecting eligible individuals.
9.
Participate in meetings as related to the determination of eligibility and necessary supports and services as requested by Director of Clinical Services.
10.
Facilitate access to generic health services (as requested by Director of Clinical Services).
11.
Provide consultation to health care providers and systems to assure appropriate care and enhance quality of service for TCRC eligible individuals and families as requested by Director of Clinical Services.
12.
Provide consultation to TCRC staff and management regarding appropriate case specific clinical diagnosis, treatment and referral as requested by Director of Clinical Services.
13.
Provide consultation to service providers to enhance health care of TCRC individuals as requested by Director of Clinical Services.
14.
Provide consultation and written recommendations to designated managers regarding placements into Intermediate Care Facilities.
15.
Provide consultation and written recommendations to the TCRC Executive Director or his/her designee regarding consent for treatment under the provisions of Welfare and Institutions Code § 4655 Position Requirements: 1.
Education and experience – A valid license to practice medicine in California issued by the State Board of Medical Examiners and four years’ of increasing clinical responsibility are the minimum requirements for the position.
Certifications in Pediatrics, Neurology or Family Practice and two years’ of clinical experience may be substituted for the above.
2.
Knowledge of the practices in the medical care and treatment of the persons with developmental disability along with knowledge of ethical and legal considerations.
Must be able to conduct diagnostic medical evaluations of a developmentally disabled patient with ability to work on an interdisciplinary basis.
Ability to prepare and present speeches and to represent the regional center at official and public meetings is important.
Ability to stimulate staff to develop innovative ways of serving clients and their families.
3.
Full use of an automobile, possession of a valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance for the minimum amount prescribed by law, or ability to provide for independent transportation.
Physical Requirements: Adequate manual dexterity and coordination for operation of a computer and other standard office equipment is required for this position.
The ability to sit at a workstation for long periods of time, the ability to read, write and comprehend large amounts of written material such as reports and regulations, use the telephone, and communicate via electronic mail are all required on a daily basis.
The ability to travel to another work-site location is absolutely required on a daily basis.
The ability to stand, sit or walk for moderate distances on uneven terrain is also required on a daily basis.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or control and reach with hands and arms.
The employee frequently is required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, kneel, stoop, bend, and squat.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs and infrequently up to 20 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Each of these physical tasks is an essential function of the position.
