1985 VW Vanagon with rebuilt engine and transmission - Ready for Adventure
Selling my beloved 1985 VW Vanagon, a true classic with a manual transmission and a rebuilt water-cooled engine that runs like a dream.
Despite its age, this van has been well-maintained and comes with a stack of receipts to prove it.
I've invested time and money in ensuring the mechanical aspects are sound, I never wanted to risk an unsafe adventure.
However, I must be transparent about the exterior.
The van does show signs of wear, particularly in the form of rust, especially under the windshield.
The paint could use some attention, but with a bit of love, it can be brought back to its former glory.
The good:
Rebuilt water-cooled engine
Rebuilt Transmission
Fuel lines and tank replaced
New hoses
Z bed bench that lays flat into a bed
Newer battery and starter
Brakes checked and fixed a little over a year ago
With the engine rebuild we replaced the hoses and did lots of updates- you name it, we did it!
I have new side view windows from Gowesty you can easily install.
The bad:
Odometer broke at 98,000 miles, but minimal mileage added since.
Rumbles when idling
Needs cosmetic love- There is rust, especially under the windshield and some paint touch ups.
Needs some new air vents, lights and just recently the buckle to the drivers seat came off (readily available and affordable on Gowesty).
There is an inside panel missing inside, there are a few loose pieces- again it's all cosmetic.
Why am I selling?
I'm parting with this van due to the loss of my adventure dog, since her passing, I've found it challenging to muster the same enthusiasm for driving this beloved van.
It's time for someone else to create new memories and take it on new adventures.
