com/enrichment-programs *Job Summary:* The After School DIY Instructor is the face of our company with our partners and students.
You will have an opportunity to directly experience the joy on these students’ faces when they complete a project they never envisioned being able to build themselves.
Additionally, the feedback and insights you collect on-site with our partners and their students will directly influence future projects we create and ways to optimize existing projects for ease of comprehension.
You will work with our partner school’s staff and students to assemble, decorate, and play with do-it-yourself (DIY) projects that Elemental Hardware Enrichment designs and manufactures.
This role will be responsible for visiting partner sites throughout Ventura County during after-school hours (typically between 1pm - 6:30pm) and teaching students how to assemble, decorate, and participate in activities with their DIY projects.
Your onboarding process will consist of: * Hands-on instruction with our staff so that you can learn how our DIY projects are assembled and how we teach them * Written and video instructional material for you to review (check some out on our YouTube channel: https://www.
youtube.
com/@ehdw) * Supervised instruction with partner schools (initially until mastery of product and how to teach program is evident) *Requirements* * Available Monday - Friday (days may vary) between 1pm - 6:30pm * Have a current Drivers License and your own, reliable form of transportation * Must be able to pass live scan fingerprinting and background check within 2 weeks of hire date * Current First Aid Certification, or willingness to acquire within 2 weeks of hire date * Current CPR Certification, or willingness to acquire within 2 weeks of hire date * Current, negative TB test * Enjoys working with students ages 7 - 14 years of age * Mandated reporting (awareness of how to recognize and report suspected child maltreatment), or willingness to go through training * Willingness to learn basic carpentry / electrical / art skills (e.

hammering nails, painting wood, sanding wood surfaces, wiring lamp cord, etc.

Reference checks and certification + documentation gathering (CPR, First Aid, Mandated Reporter Training, proof of recent negative TB test) + livescan background check 5.
Start date with a welcome call from the hiring manager and scheduling your onboarding sessions and "homework" 6.
Onboarding sessions and "homework" are a mix of in-person, hands-on workshops learning about how we teach our DIY projects, classes, and safety, mock classroom and situational training, and online curriculum, where you will be required to study our training manual and instructional videos to complete our online assessments with a satisfactory score.
You will also be required to spend time shadowing and aiding veteran instructors before leading your own DIY classes.
We expect training to take anywhere between 2 - 8 weeks depending on your level of experience, scheduling availability, speed of comprehension, and passing on the above-mentioned assessments.
Onboarding and training is fully paid at $23 / hour.
Upon completing your onboarding and training, your compensation will be re-evaluated based on performance between the range of $23 - $30 per hour.
