SUMMARY: The Global Sourcing Director (GSD) and the associated led team is P&L accountable for the development, management, expansion, and administration of efficient global supply chains for citrus and other targeted commodities all in a manner that profitably increases volume, utilization, and returns.
The GSD constructively works across multiple stakeholders including growers, packing facilities, sales, accounting, transportation, operations, warehousing, third-party service providers, quality, central supply chain (CSC), management, and other pertinent groups.
The GSD is responsible for sustaining and developing enduring supplier relationships across multiple buying arrangements while securing necessary supply for customer and market growth.
The GSD manages the financial details between Limoneira and growers for timely and accurate closings including working with accounting for grower contract development and approval.
The GSD provides reports to pertinent stakeholders relative to in-season contract progression and status.
The GSD manages logistics from source to market including in-market Limoneira-owned and third-party operational and distribution facilities.
GSD works collaboratively with sales and operations in the selection of third-party distribution facilities.
The GSD negotiates overall facility arrangements, and specific fee structures, and sets and enforces performance requirements.
The GSD is responsible for the quality feedback program to ensure that all supply chain members are aware of quality, manifest, and delivery performance in a timely fashion.
The GSD works closely with sales in understanding customer demand and customer needs as it relate to volume, varieties, product characteristics, quality, timing expectations, crop updates, logistic schedules, pick-up locations, and current and future inventory levels.
The GSD aligns with CSC to optimize the balance between Limoneira-managed and outside-sourced volumes.
The GSD develops and manages a customer-centric communication system that quickly acts on, and updates required sales and customer order status information from initial inquiry to customer pick-up or delivery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Limoneira’s job descriptions describe the key areas of responsibility but do not attempt to describe all activities or areas of responsibility.
In most cases, the description covers approximately 80% of an individual's daily, weekly, or monthly job duties.
Manage P & L by increasing the volume and revenue of globally sourced products and minimizing cost by optimizing the supply chain for quality and efficiency Develop, implement, and administer an efficient global supply chain by “making it happen” and changing the current process when it is ineffective Manage all sourcing strategies and policies to ensure the achievement of all business objectives and perform appropriate negotiations with all sourcing areas/products Manage all contracts and evaluate all performance according to the contract and ensure efficient flow of all conditions in the contract Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to facilitate programs and push volume in ways that utilize all portions of the crop Work with the sales team to distribute crops to specific markets that maximize profits while balancing short and long-term requirements Act as the global sales group liaison to sourcing, transportation, CSC, and inventory, as well as the point person for pertinent crop and product information needed for maximizing sales Provide sourcing support to the global sales team to strategically develop, manage, and increase export and domestic customer base across retail, food service, wholesale, and alternative channels Liquidate to growers in a timely manner using all resources available via accounting, IT, and sales departments Manage logistics from source to customer pick-up location including business management of third-party warehouse and distribution facilities Develop and work in conjunction with business partners, customers, and vendors in go-to-market strategies and tactics Work with global sourcing and marketing partners to coordinate fruit supply and customer demand/fulfillment Develop and manage quality feedback program for sourcing partners, warehousing, and sales team Locate fruit from alternative sources when necessary; keep abreast of floor counts and inventory daily in order to, whenever possible, timely move fruit that might best suit packinghouse inventories; work with global growers to source fruit to fulfill customer needs.
Communicate with various segments of the supply chain daily to minimize issues and ensure orders are being met Create annual budgets relating to supply volume, supply chain costs, and forecasted demand.
Provide monthly forecasts and revisions to the budget Gather and distribute market information to the global supply chain team Verify designated customer sale orders in systems and resolve all claims issues if arise Maintain annual records used for yearly audits and/or reporting Perform all other duties as directed by Management QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must have completed a master’s degree from a university in a relevant field such as business administration, purchasing, supply chain management, or equivalent; must have a minimum of 10 years of increasing responsibility in fresh produce sourcing; must know about sales and sales channels; established relationships with export and domestic suppliers.
SKILLS and ABILITIES: Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office and sales/accounting software; must have a strong understanding of accounting concepts; must have experience in data sorting and understanding the information; must be able to negotiate with suppliers and supply chain parties and resolve any issues; must be able to understand and have the ability to analyze P&L statement and manage budgets and forecasting PERSONAL TRAITS: Must be able to communicate openly and share information; must work well with multiple stakeholders; must foster positive and productive relationships, must have strong interpersonal skills; must be able to manage time and priorities; must be able to multi-task; must have a strong work ethic and be self-motivated; must be able to tolerate a high level of uncertainty; must be able to demonstrate a positive attitude; must be able to maintain a neat work area; must be able and willing to work with suppliers, sales, customers, and other stakeholders across a variety of sourcing areas and markets; accept constructive criticism; must possess good problem-solving skills; must have the ability to get sustained results by effectively working through others REASONING ABILITY: Must be able to apply common sense understanding to fulfill written, oral, or visual instructions; must be able to interpret instructions furnished both verbally and in written form; must be able to trace and correct errors.
