The Oak, our 3-meal restaurant at Ojai Valley Inn, is seeking an experienced Food and Beverage Supervisor to join our leadership team in our dynamic 5 Diamond property.
The Oak is open daily from 6:30am – 9:00pm with a focus on California Cuisine and locally sourced products.

Ideal candidates will have prior management experience as a lead server and/or Supervisor in an upscale establishment; exceptional organization, service skills, financial acumen, proven leadership traits and a desire to be part of a quality driven team.
Experience in a luxury resort is preferred.
In addition, the role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team.
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS: Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities.

Minimum 3 years experience as lead server or supervisor in an upscale establishment.
Basic knowledge of service, cost control in F&B, labor controls, special -event planning and execution, menu writing, maintenance, and accounting.
Ability to work a flexible work week including nights, weekends and holidays.
Excellent people skills.
Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
Excellent verbal and writing skills.
Basic knowledge of a variety of Food & Beverage point-of-sale systems.
Ability to work productively with other operating departments.
Ability to handle obstacles in a positive and professional manner, and to effectively communicate these problems Maintain professional appearance behavior, integrity, openness, and accessibility to employees and guests.
Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments, and to delegate responsibilities to line level associates Ability to work without constant, direct supervision.

Ability to enforce hotel’s standards, policies and procedures with Oak line level associates Ability to direct performance of Oakline level associates and follow up with corrections where needed.
Ability to motivate staff and maintain a cohesive team.

Ability to work well under pressure of monitoring and coordinating all departmental functions.
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality of all guests and pertinent hotel information.
Basic knowledge of wines and spirits.
Desirable: Fluency in a foreign language, preferably Spanish.
Experience in hospitality industry in similar position.
College degree, preferable in hotel and restaurant management.
TIPS certification.
CPR certification.
Previous guest-relations training.

Regularly perform duties such as serving food and drink, bussing.
Observe daily conditions of all physical facilities and equipment at all pool areas; make corrections and improvements where appropriate or recommend adjustments to supervisor.
Organize and orchestrate last minute changes and details to functions.
Control usage of all food and beverage items and appropriate usage of equipment, tools and service equipment.
Assist Management in aspects of the Food & Beverage operation including: Controlling costs Maintaining par and inventory levels Requisition and distribution of products Produce schedules for restaurant staff to ensure proper coverage based on the forecast and business levels.
Observe performance and proactively coach, counsel and discipline associates.
Constantly monitor staff’s grooming, demeanor and professionalism to ensure compliance with both Ojai Valley Inn and AAA Five Diamond Standards.
Handle guest complaints or concerns.
Recognize and address potentially intoxicated, disruptive or undesirable guests.
Engage with guests and create a lively, enjoyable atmosphere while exhibiting professionalism, attentiveness and exemplary service.
