Functional Area: Ormond Beach Generation Station Position: Maintenance Supervisor Scope: The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the effective direction and supervision of a multi-discipline team to maintain and repair a wide range of power plant equipment.
The Maintenance Supervisor will manage the maintenance mechanic team to optimize the availability of the generating units at the lowest cost and is responsible for assuring the employees in the team have the training and skills they need to do their jobs.
This person will also need to administer contracts for maintenance actives making sure that plant and company procedures are followed in regards to employment and administration procedures.
In addition, the Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for assuring that the maintenance team follows all safety and environment procedures and regulations.
Summary of Position Duties: • Provides leadership and is responsible for directly supervising the mechanics / contractor team and organizes personnel and tasks to achieve the highest level of productivity.
• Encourages employees to be self-directed and self-managing in their work activities and assists team members to reach joint decisions without regard to individual interests or egos.
• Develops clear performance agreements with assigned employees and provides support to help them meet those agreements.
• Effectively uses the approved Positive Discipline program to manage employee performance.
And maintains an appropriate level of documentation of all performance management activities.
• Continually looks for ways to reduce or eliminate unsafe working conditions or any condition that may have adverse effects on the work place environment.
• Conducts safety and environmental meetings and coaches employees to assure that safety and environmental rules and procedures are followed.
Ensures that all team members attend mandatory environmental/emergency response training.
• Conducts timely and accurate accident investigations.
• Seeks input from all members of the Production Team and ensures where possible decision making involves team members directly impacted by the outcome.
• The Maintenance Supervisor will ensure that employees have the training and skills they need to do their jobs safely and efficiently.
• Works with the employees to create annual Performance /Development plans and assist the employee to implement.
• Manages personnel, resources and tasks to achieve the highest level of productivity.
• The Maintenance Supervisor has a primary responsibility for oversight of the plant work • Management program which at a minimum includes: ➢ Data base management ➢ Employee performance tracking ➢ Verification of Work Order priorities with the Production Supervisor.
➢ Identification and procurement of materials.
➢ Work scheduling ➢ Ongoing review of work in progress.
➢ Work Order backlog management ➢ Archiving of completed Work Orders ➢ Utilizes Recurring Work Orders to maintain an effective preventive and predictive maintenance program for plant equipment • The Maintenance Supervisor may be involved in the preparation of contract specifications, bid packages, Record of Bids, contracts, and job awards to contractor Maintenance Supervisor, continued Job Experience, Skills, Abilities and Behaviors: • Outstanding safety awareness and attitude • Exceptional environmental compliance mindset • Superior Leadership skills • A comprehensive Technical background and a working knowledge of Power Plant operations.
• Proficient in all basic plant computer programs • Superior interpersonal skills • Well developed planning and organizational skills • Highly flexible, with the ability to adapt to changing requirements and manage assignments to completion.
• Very good problem solving abilities • Demonstrated sound judgement with minimal direction from management • Uses discretion concerning confidential and sensitive company information • Displays willingness to take responsibility and takes the initiative in decisions making.
• Is a team player, works well in a group environment, and is able to work with all other levels of the GenOn organization.
Other Requirements: This position requires the ability to perform effectively in a team environment and work well with others inside and outside the system.
It is particularly important that the incumbent be able to work effectively with other members of GenOn.
This position requires the ability to work overtime with little or no advance notice and will require some travel.
Working Conditions: • Normal office environment and/or out of doors work environment (Including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas at generating unit work locations) • Requires operation of a motor vehicle; California Driver's License • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect or collect data on plant equipment to access, inspect or collect data on plant equipment • Work overtime and non-standard hours as required • Requires occasional travel outside the business area • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.
) • May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals • Requires operation of a personal computer • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities
