JOB DUAL CERTIFICATION OPPORTUNITY (Non-Credentialed)To fill a vacancy, Level II or Level III, 8 hours per day (Monday to Friday 9:30 am - 6:00 pm), 185 days per year.

Specific school site assignment(s) may vary, and are based on program and student needs.
This recruitment will also result in an established eligibility list which will be used to fill future vacancies; this list will be valid for one year.

Under the supervision and evaluation of the Coordinator of Health Services & Prevention Programs, performs a variety of activities in support of student health services; communicates with parents, school site, district personnel and /or agencies regarding health related matters on behalf of student(s); assists with medical screening of students; disseminates health information; and provides emergency medical care.
This position also works under the direction of a Credentialed School Nurse.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS BETWEEN RELATED CLASSESA Licensed Vocational Nurse (or Licensed Practical Nurse) possesses a California nursing license and performs specialized physical health care procedures requiring technical manual skills under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), with a major differences between LVN and RN being in the areas of teaching, supervision, independent function, and the authority to assess and plan a course of action.
A Health Technician performs the less technical health related services at a designated school site that are not subject to State and/or Federal licensing/certification requirements.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION TESTING INFORMATIONThe examination process may be comprised of a multiple choice exam, performance assessment, computer skills exam, or any combination of assessment appropriate to determine technical ability to perform the duties listed in the job description.
Step 1: Application Screening (pass/fail) Applications will be screened for minimum qualifications.
An initial application screening is scheduled for September 22, 2023.
Applications will be evaluated and ranked according to criteria that most closely meets the needs of the department, so it is essential that applicants provide as much detail as possible and answer all parts of the application, including work experience and the supplemental questionnaire.
If there is a high number of qualified applicants, a comparative screening will be conducted to determine which of the applicants will be selected for invitation to the performance examination.
Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications for the position will be emailed an examination pass.
Exam passes will not be sent until after the closing date for the position.
A photo ID and the examination pass are required for admittance to the exam.
Step 2: Qualifications Appraisal Interview (weighted 100%) is scheduled for October 5, 2023.
All applicants must achieve a passing score in each part of the examination process in order to be placed on the eligibility list.
ADDITIONAL SALARY INFORMATIONNew Hires – Initial Salary PlacementThe District has established criteria in place that recognizes the education and experience new employees bring to their role in supporting students and the services of the District.
Upon approval of the Director of Classified Human Resources, a new employee may be provided with advanced step placement up to Step 5 based on the following criteria: Additional qualifying experience beyond that required for entry into the class (limited to no more than one step for each two years of experience related to the classification)Additional education at the college level beyond the educational requirements established for entry into the class (limited to no more than one step for each two years of education related to the position) All new hires placed at Step 1 of the salary schedule will advance to Step 2 after successfully completing the six-month probationary period.
Longevity increments are offered based on years of service with the District: an additional 1.
20% of base salary after completing 4 years of service, 4.
10% at 9 years, 7.
08% at 14 years, 10.
15% at 19 years, 13.
31% at 24 years, 16.
46% at 29 years.
Promotional and/or transfer candidates will be placed at the appropriate step in accordance with established Personnel Commission Rules & Regulations.
Education IncentivesAll active, regular classified employees are eligible for an education incentive if they possess a college degree which is related to their classification and is above and beyond the stated minimum qualifications for their classification.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (Upon Offer of Employment)Employment Verification: The Immigration Reform and Control Act requires that the District obtain documentation from every individual who is employed which verifies identity and authorizes his/her right to work in the United States.
Individuals selected for employment are required to submit to a tuberculosis risk assessment, and, if risk factors are identified, would then be required to submit to a tuberculosis examination to determine freedom from tuberculosis.
The District reserves the right to require a job related physical examination and satisfactory results from such an exam.
Fingerprinting: State law requires that all employees be fingerprinted.
AB1610 prohibits employment until the Department of Justice completes its obligations regarding the arrest and conviction information, and from employing a person who has been convicted of a violent or serious felony, as defined.
All candidates with a conviction record for offenses other than minor traffic violations, must file a conviction record statement with their application.

Other: Eligibles will be required to provide a current DMV report and/or proof of auto insurance to the Classified Human Resources Department before being certified for a final selection interview for positions that require the employee to drive a district vehicle and/or hold a valid California driver's license.
