Hi -- I'm looking for a short to long-term, non-equity partnership in a 30ft+ sailboat out of Santa Barbara, Ventura, or Channel Islands harbors.
I’m getting my kids through college before I make a purchase of my own sailing vessel, until then I’m hoping to help someone pay for their monthly expenses in exchange for a few days a month offshore.
Looking for a mellow, no stress relationship.
I would use the boat to do multi-day trips to the islands for surf, dive, and remote work with my wife (have Starlink internet w/ Jackery power plant so no strain on your electrical system).
The boat would be returned in immaculate condition with fuel topped off every time.
I keep records of my trips and would share this with you each time so you know where the boat has been.
I would be happy to pay for months in advance with a security deposit, and bring my own insurance.
I know this is a big decision to let someone else use your boat so can be flexible to meet your needs.
About me:
* I’ve bareboated 40ft+ sailing catamarans throughout the Caribbean and our Channel Islands (plus years of multi-day trips to SC Island / Rosa on my own fishing boat – very familiar with central CA water)
* Have completed all of the ASA courses
* I have my own 22’ft fishing boat in a slip up here in Santa Cruz (home) – this would be available to you if you wanted to come up to Monterey Bay for a weekend
* I’ve crewed on 70ft+ NOAA research vessels – experience across small to large boats (sitting watch, running cranes, etc)
* Very strong at marine electrical systems and outboard motors (do all of my own services and troubleshooting).
Good with anything mechanical in general (I carry a multimeter and tool kit with me at all times while on the water)
If you are considering offsetting your monthly costs with a no-hassle, highly experienced ‘partner’ please let me know.
I’m looking short term (<6 months) but open to extending if it makes sense for both of us.
