Production Technician/Molder needed for BIRNS—a leading ISO 9001:2008 certified manufacturer of underwater lighting and connector systems in West Ventura County and the performance and quality leader in its field.
The role is responsible for the operation of our custom automated hydraulic molding presses in the development of inserts for a wide range of marine connector lines.
We are willing to provide specific training to qualified applicants, but are looking for individuals with some type of relevant experience.
*Responsibilities:*
* Reading work orders, drawings, and manufacturing procedures, selecting and assembling correct tooling (mold) sections for the item to be molded
* Preparing electrical contacts and/or other items for insertion into molds.
Attaches them (as necessary) to wires or cable.
Inserts contacts into the mold
* Properly installing molds into molding press; injecting molds with GRE molding material; applying correct combination of molding variables (clamp pressure, injection pressure, temperature, time, etc.
) to molding press to derive good results
* Recording applied molding variables
* Performing in-process quality control check; records quantity of, and reasons for, any rejected parts.
Analyzing and recording test results, and preparing written testing documentation
* Inspecting parts for surface defects.
Verifying dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments
* Cleaning and maintaining tooling and equipment as needed
* Performing other related work, e.
g.
preparing and soldering cable wires to connectors
* Recording time spent on each operation for job costing purposes
* Assisting in inventory control of materials and supplies
* Providing support as needed for other factory requirements, e.
g.
molding, Quality, warehouse, etc.
*Qualifications:*
* High-school diploma or equivalent, and three years’ related technical experience and/or training
* Three years of molding experience in a high tech manufacturing environment
* IPC-610 certification helpful
* J-STD-001 Class 3 certification helpful
* WHMA-A-620-A Class 3 certification helpful
* Ability to read wiring diagrams/electrical schematics/blueprints
