The team in Oxnard, CA has an opening for a Machinist level 3 to join the PGS Division.
This individual will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools such as lathe, mills, surface grinders, and other machine shop equipment.
This position will be reporting directly to the Manager for the Department.
Responsibilities: Sets up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
Uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; Program CNC equipment by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs Conduct machine set-ups installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to international standards Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments Determine material, parts, and equipment required Set up and operate any type of precision machine tool to make original parts, tools, mechanisms, and devices.
Solve problems relative to work-holding arrangement, unusual materials, machine settings and tools Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs Document actions by completing production work instructions Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications Basic Qualifications Level 3: High school diploma or GED and at least 4 years of additional education and/or related experience 4+ years of Machining and Programming experience Ability to read and interpret drawings and blue prints Use of basic hand tools Strong attention to detail and good verbal/written communication skills Proficient Microsoft Office skills U.

Citizenship is a requirement for employment Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree in a mechanical or machining related curriculum or 15 years machining and programming experience Ability to lay out own work Expert in ASME Y14.

Proficiency with MasterCAM, SurfCAM or equivalent CNC software.

4 years’ additional education and/ CNC machine experience Work with little supervision Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40lbs Ability to stand, sit, walk and bend for long periods of time Salary Range: $57,800 - $96,300 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
