Sewage Plant Operator- Naval Base Ventura County EMI Services is looking for a Lead Sewage Plant Operator to provide day-to-day monitoring and basic plant and pump/booster station operations, routine lab tests, and basic corrective and preventative maintenance activities.
Lead and train lower level employees in maintenance and operation of the Sewage Plant equipment.
Write and update equipment operation and maintenance logs, procedures and processes *May supervise lower level employees Salary TBD Responsibilities Operates sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater (sewage) treatment plant to control flow and processing of sewage, monitors control panels, and adjusts valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of sewage, observes variations in operating conditions, and interprets meter and gauge readings and test results to determine load requirements Starts and stops pumps, engines, and generators to control the flow of raw sewage through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes, maintains log of operations and records meter and gas readings, gives directions to wastewater treatment plant attendants and sewage-disposal workers in performing routine operations and maintenance, and may collect sewage sample, using dipper or bottle and conduct laboratory tests, using testing equipment, such as colorimeter This person may operate and maintain power-generating equipment to provide steam and electricity for plant Lead and trains lower level employees Write and update equipment operation and maintenance logs, procedures and processes Perform other duties as assigned Essential Skills Experience using material handling equipment, pressure gauges, and precision measuring instruments Experience using power, pneumatic, hydraulic, and hand tools and shop tools such as drill press, band saw, bench grinder, torque wrench Ability to comprehend specifications, blueprints, and manuals Ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety, and quality instructions) and be able to carry out verbal and written instructions Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations Requirements High school diploma or equivalent 3 years experience in sewage treatment operations Valid driver’s license Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check Regular, dependable attendance U.

citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations.
Minimum water/wastewater license as required by the regulatory agency at the site Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted Use of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walking Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping * Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
