Goonhilly Earth Station Ltd (GES) is currently seeking an experienced Satellite Teleport Technician to join our team in Santa Paula CA.

We provide satellite and space communications services to a wide range of international satellite operations customers and Space Agencies.
Our expert consultancy, state-of-the-art assets, and 24/7 support are available across a wide range of satellite communications services including satellite uplink and broadcast, gateway operations, TT&C, and carrier monitoring.
GES has also established the world’s first privately-owned deep-space communications network, providing services beyond geostationary orbit through our 24/7 operational control center.
GES supports numerous missions to the Moon and beyond, providing additional capacity to existing NASA and ESA networks using our largest, 32m antenna.
In 2023, Goonhilly revealed that it was going global, establishing a US subsidiary - Goonhilly Inc.
- and announcing that it would be acquiring operational teleports in Southbury, Connecticut, and Santa Paula, California, from their parent company.
The acquisition, once completed, will optimize LEO, MEO, and GEO satellite services for customers on both sides of the Atlantic, and see the world’s first commercial lunar comms network expand into the States.
The Opportunity: Goonhilly Inc.
is looking for experienced Satellite Teleport Technicians.
The Satellite Technician supports the operations and maintenance of a satellite communications Teleport, including assistance to the engineering staff, field service engineers and end user customers worldwide.
This role is part of a team that works in rotating shifts based on a 24/7 environment.

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels with both internal and external customers.
Ability to react swiftly in fault isolation of complex networks and systems while following procedures for restoration, escalation and notification of routine and abnormal events.
Providing accurate and detailed documentation and notes for both planned and unplanned work using trouble ticketing systems such as Jira and Service Now.
You must have strong PC skills in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Outlook and Visio along with Windows, Unix, and Linux Operating systems.
General Qualifications, Knowledge And Skills: Electronics skills include familiarization with basic AC/DC theory, Ohms law, analog and digital components, power supplies, audio frequency (AF) and radio frequency (RF).
Knowledge and experience with Satellite & RF equipment including antenna tracking and control, KPAs, TWTAs, SSPAs, LNAs, RF converters, Fiber Optics, modems, multiplexers, and satellite hub equipment from iDirect & Newtec.
Working experience with test equipment such as spectrum and network analyzers, signal generators, carrier monitoring tools, and RF & fiber optic signal sources and power meters.
Previous experience working with Network equipment to include switches, routers, firewalls, and optical equipment for voice, video, audio and data transmissions over LAN and WAN networks.
Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, FTP, and secure file and data transfer protocols along with IP addressing and subnetting in a secure environment.
Familiarity with Facilities equipment such as HVAC, AC and DC power switching and distribution equipment, diesel power generators, UPS’s, security and fire detection/suppression systems.
To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform each essential duties in a satisfactory manner and should demonstrate the competencies listed above.
All employees are expected to adhere to and be knowledgeable of Goonhilly operating standards, established safety rules, and adhere to company attendance guidelines.
Education/Experience: Associate degree, Trade Degree/Certification, or equivalent military training in technology.
2-4 years of experience in satellite or network operations, and earth station installation and/or maintenance.
Related Experiences: Air Force Specialty Code 3D1X3 – RF Transmission Systems & Space Systems Operator & Maintaner.
Navy Enlisted Classifications - ET1404/1405/1406/1433 Electronics Technician - SATCOM Communications Maintenance Technician Army Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 25S Satellite Transmission System Operator & Maintainer and similar.
Marine Corp Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 0627 Satellite Transmission System Operator & Maintainer and similar.
Physical Demands: While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs) as well as climb up and down ladders.
Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening and reading, able to lift heavy objects (minimum 50lbs), and use standard office equipment such as computer, printer, phone and cell phone as well as ground station specific equipment, power and manual.
In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist or stoop in order to open/close cabinets, reach for files or other standard office type objects.
This role follows a rotating shift pattern which includes day-shift, night-shift, and weekend-shift work and gets paid rate differentials for evenings, nights, and holidays.
Work Environment: The role includes both indoor and outdoor working conditions.
The indoor environment is generally quiet and in a temperature-controlled setting with random adjustments in noise or temperature due to conversations, unscheduled maintenance repairs to the building or its interior offices, or unpredictable situations due to weather or other acts beyond company control.
The outside environment is subject to varying noise levels, unscheduled maintenance, and varying weather conditions beyond company control as well.
An employee must be willing to work their regularly assigned work schedule for their particular duties and/or job responsibilities and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on company/department needs, project requirements or customer demands.
Some overnight travel may be required to facilitate work objectives.
While at client site locations, if applicable, employee will be required to adhere to the proper safety precautions established by the client while in proximity to their work area, flight-line or maintenance repair center; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
The temperature at client locations can vary from controlled to variations off hot/cold when working, standing or walking in or near the flight-line or maintenance repair center.
